Irene Kaushansky

Associate Director, Compliance and Operational Integrity

Irene is a certified operational compliance and contracting professional with a strong understanding of regulatory and financial requirements associated with USG and other donor funding. She focuses on best business practices and establishing a model compliance program as she navigates agency regulations and related administrative guidelines governing GFEMS award portfolio. She has experience administering and managing both assistance and acquisition instruments, from the solicitation phase through post-award compliance and closeout. Irene is competent in aspects of legal, operational, and ethical organizational management.

Irene was also a Co-Chair of the InterAction Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Working Group. In this role, she provided direction and was responsible for oversight of annual training, capacity building, and strengthening opportunities identified by members.


Irene received her MA in International Communication from the School of International Service, American University. She also received her BA in History and International Relations at AU where she graduated cum laude and with university honors. She is also a 2019 finalist for the Women in Compliance Awards.
